since u been gone
I’m ‘home’ but really haven’t been Home. My mother picked me up at the airport on Friday the 28th and we went to the Home and had dinner. I looted my stuff: a pair of sneakers, a nice kitchen knife, a white t-shirt. Two hours later, we left for western Maine. I spent the week hanging out with Liz and Louise, making afternoon snacks and melting in the heat and humidity. I rode a roadbike with some semblance of competancy, dove in the pond, and made up for lost time being bored on the internet. This Sunday my dad drove me to Portland, where I’m staging an occupation of Jen’s couch and seeking out friends. They all ask, “so, how was your summer?” my reply is generally, “uhhh, good?” meaning: how many words do you want? How pedantic to I get to be? There has been a lot of summer this summer.
So really, I’m still on the move. I don’t plan to sit still for long this August. Next up is the Burdock Gathering, and after that, Home. For real this time.
