hey again
So here’s the new game plan: post more, but post less.
uh, I mean, post more often, but not so elaborately. Starting now:
I’ve been back and forth from San Francisco quite a bit this fall; I used to think I would stay aloof from SF, but something reeled me in enough to do a bunch of social commuting. I took the train the last time I went, and it was beautiful, and also it went right by the sugar refinery that is all pipes and steam and vats of H2SO4 (also, the sugar refinery has this gorgeous lit-up sign; at night it blinks and it was the only thing I could see out of the window on the Monday night train home).
This Saturday I learned to true my bike wheel, after I slammed it against a curb (accidentally!) the other week. It was the best bike kitchen experience I’ve had so far, because I walked out of there with the feeling that I could do it again on my own.
And this week I am on a (planned) apple pie baking kick. I bought 9 pounds of apples at the farmer’s market, which should be good for a pie for the office (baked last night, completely eaten today), a little one for the apartment (also baked last night), and tomorrow one for Thanksgiving. My dad is coming out to CA for the week and bringing with him brussel sprouts (from the garden) and a pecan pie (baked by my mother, requested by me). I’m looking forward to more holiday baking… amongh other things, Mom requested I do some research on pecan pies not based around corn syrup.
